Bad news from the Office of Fair Trading (OFT) who tell us used cars top their complaints league. They have received 56,000 complaints in the 12 months to September 2011 according to their press release.

The Office of Fair Trading (OFT) has announced some good news. The OFT can approve codes of practice under its Consumer Codes Approval Scheme. The code which gets the thumbs up is the Motor Industry Service and Repair Code. The code applies to cars and vans.

SHARP released motorcycle helmet safety ratings for another 28 motorcycle helmets bringing the total tested to 247.
Progress may be slow, but the testing looks thorough, and of course the results must be correct. The manufacturers are also given the opportunity to respond to the results.
The Safety Helmet Assessment and Rating Programme provide advice on helmet care and helmet fit. The advice is that a helmet has a life of five years, and only three if used regularly. If you personalise your helmet with stickers and paints is said to be best left to the professionals to avoid damage and weakening.
