GT gives you extra protection, service and choice through Your Key, at no cost. Your Key is a dedicated after accident support service. If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident make Your Key your first call, and together with GT we will provide the help and advice you need.

How can I get this free service

 It is available to all GT Motorcycles customers without cost. All those on the mailing list have received a leaflet and their contact cards by post. To activate the card go click here and let us have your details. If you were not mailed please call at one of the stores at Plymouth, St Austell or Torbay, and ask for the leaflet and card. You will be asked for your contact details, and your service is yours at no cost. If you filled in a form at one of the stores your protection is activared.

 Protection

You insure your bike, you wear the best protective gear, but what do you do to sort out the consequences of an accident? It is here that Your Key plays its part as a dedicated after accident support service, with the added protection of legal cover.

If you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident call Your Key first on 0800 756 9425, a number set up for GT customers. Your Key can arrange recovery, hire and repair. Who pays for these services depends on fault, but you do have in place free legal cover so you can take legal advice and seek compensation without fear of legal fees.

Service and Choice

By calling Your Key after an accident you can decide what services you need, and who supplies them. Insurance companies have their bulk providers, but isn’t it important to have any repairs carried out locally and professionally by GT?

GT will deal with recovery of motorcycles in Devon and Cornwall at a fixed cost of £75 + VAT. This price is miles below the call out charge of most recovery companies, and is part of the GT commitment to service. This service is of course subject to availability. Your Key can arrange an alternative, but sorry, not at that price. You will be asked to pay for the recovery service, and you will be able to seek reimbursement in the event that some other party was at fault. The legal cover will allow you to do this without fear of legal expense.

There is much to tell you about this service so questions and answers are set out below to help you.

Q: What does my membership of Your Key give me?
A:  Your Key is an after accident support service which delivers all the services you will need if you are unfortunate enough to have been involved in an accident. These services include vehicle recovery, hire and repair, plus the legal expenses insurance necessary to recover compensation without fear of legal fees.

Q: Why is there a special number for GT Your Key members?
A: Because we are working with GT you have additional services available so to make sure we identify you as a GT member we have set up a special number – 0800 756 9425. Using our general number, 08000 114 114 is fine, but the special number will help us identify you more quickly. Please note if you received our leaflet by mail there is an error. The number above is shown within an extra zero. The correct number is 0800 756 9425, and sorry for any confusion caused.

Q: What is legal expenses insurance?
A: It covers the legal fees if you have to bring a compensation claim after an accident. It is sometimes called legal cover or legal protection.

Q: How can the insurance be free?
A: It is free to you as Your Key pays the premium. If our after accident service are used by members we earn commission. We do not increase the costs after an accident, we simply provide the services in a convenient package through our freephone number, 0800 756 9425.

Q: Do you only cover me when riding my bike?
A: No. We cover you for any accident. And not just on the road - for example this insurance covers you even if you are injured at work. We insure you, not your vehicles, so one policy is enough.

Q: Is anyone else covered?
A: Yes. Through your membership the same cover is automatically in place for your family members and your vehicle passengers. Family member means spouse/partner and children living with you up to 21 years of age.

Q: What if I already have legal expenses insurance?
A: If you bought this cover when insuring a vehicle, even at a cost up to £25, we are confident our policy is more comprehensive. Our policy covers you, family members, and your passengers, in respect of any
accident. We suggest you do not buy this cover again when insuring your vehicles., as our protection is automatically renewed each year.

Q How long does Your Key membership and its insurance last?
A: We renew membership and insurance every year without any administration or fuss. Just keep your membership number and policy safe, and our phone number saved on your mobile, 0800 756 9425, under accident, and call us if you are unfortunate enough to be involved in an accident.

Q: Do I make any payment to Your Key?
A: No. The membership and policy are free. Who pays for the services after an accident depends on who is at fault. You will always be asked to pay for recovery, and if someone else is to blame for the accident you can recover this expense, along with your other losses, and compensation for your injury, using the legal expenses insurance.

Q: Will you help me if I am to blame for the accident?
A: Yes, of course. You or your insurer will have to pay but you still have the convenience of one free telephone call to access the services you need, and all services are very competitively priced.

Q: Is Your Key a breakdown service?
A: No. We provide the support you need after an accident. Why not use the saving you gain from no longer buying legal cover on your vehicles to purchase breakdown cover through GT. If you are stuck we can arrange recovery, but you will have to pay.

Q: Is there anything I should do?
A: Yes, please do the following:
1. Save our number, 0800 756 9425, on your own and your family members mobiles as “accident”, or something equally memorable.
2.  If we sent you a card put it on your key ring.
3. Make sure we have your current contact details, and to note a change visit the change details facility at http://www.yourkey.info/change-your-details.
4. Keep your membership number and policy safe with your insurance documents.
5. Call us in the event of an accident on 0800 756 9425.
