How Your Key can help
March 16th, 2009Your Key is an accident support service for its members. Members are recognising the need for independent advice and are turning to us for help on insurance and motoring issues. You will find we are pleased to help.
We have dealt with hundreds of calls after accidents. We have arranged recovery, hire and repair of bikes, cars, and other vehicles. When our member has been injured we have arranged an experienced solicitor to work under the legal expenses policy which is part of the Your Key protection.
We can do all this if the accident is the fault of another insured road user.
We have advised and taken up cases where the driver at fault is not insured. There are options available through the Motor Insurers’ Bureau.
Even if our member has nobody to blame for an accident we can still arrange services, but of course you or your insurer have to pay. We will always be competitive on price, and allow you choice as to who does the work. This contrasts with your own insurer who will rarely allow your own dealer to carry out the repair. Sometimes choice is just as important as price, and understanding how insurance works will often show you the best way to deal with any problem.
Our main aim is to help after accidents, but our role is becoming much wider.

Hi,
I was wondering if you could help me?
On 25th May 2010 I got and bought a quote through ‘The Bike Insurer’. The broker is ‘MCE’ and the insurance company is AXA.
The payment went fine, and I even called ‘MCE’ for confirmation that it all went smoothly, I was told everything was fine. But today 24th May 2010, I received the insurance documents from ‘MCE’ saying that my total premium is £1299 and the total amount paid is £1299, when I was quoted £644 and I only paid £644 (or so I thought).
My worry now is that if I can’t prove this, they will try to take £1299 of me, when I just don’t have that kind of money, it’s outrageous! So, is there any record of the payments made on ‘The Bike Insurer’ website?
f there is any proof of the payment I made, can it be sent to me? It would be really helpful, as ‘MCE’ might be funny with me about the mistake!
If you need anymore information about myself or the payment, feel free to email me, I check them everyday.
Hope to hear from you soon.
Many thanks
Terri

Thanks Terri,
We cannot arrange that for you as Your Key is separate from the Bike Insurer.
Have a look at your spam and deleted folder around the date of your quote,
as it might be there.
I think there is little point emailing
customerservice@thebikeinsurer.co.uk as that is an automatic address which
sends out many quotes. They do have a freephone number, 08000 890891, but
do call fron a landline rather than a mobile, as your mobile provider may
well charge dearly.
Good luck.

Got back in touch with MCE today, who told me that it was their fault. The premium they sent me was a mistake.
They confirmed that I will only be charged £644.55 and I will receive the correct documents in the next week.
I just hope that they are true to their word.
All that worrying for nothing eh!
Thanks for all your help.
Terri
